Today’s adventure was a 40 km bike ride from Alberobello to Locorotondo. John our tour guide, had me take a test ride on the e-bike in the parking lot before we went on our ride. Unfortunately, when I went to get off the bike, I fell and cut my shin.

I persevered and completed the ride without further injury to myself. We rode through the peaceful trulli countryside along quiet rural roads, surrounded by dry stone walls, vineyards, olive groves and traditional trulli. We stopped in Locorotondo to explore its whitewashed historic centre, narrow streets and panoramic viewpoints.

After wandering around for a bit, we started our ride back to Alberobello. Along the way, we stopped at a 200 year old trulli.

This is us at the end of the ride. We made it! John was great.

We went into the centre of Alberobello for lunch. I tried the bombette.

Bombette are fresh pork meat rolls usually stuffed with cheese, salt and pepper, traditionally spread all over Apulia and prepared in the whole territory of Valle d’Itria.
Not my favorite but at least I tried it.
We then drove to Lecce which is South on the heel of the boot. It was about an 1 1/2 hour ride. We were surprised when we arrived in Lecce. It is much more developed than we expected.
We found our flat and settled down for a while. We decided to drive to a restaurant but parking in this city is crazy. We literally drove around for an hour before we gave up and found a parking space outside our flat. We were lucky, there was a delicious restaurant right across the street, Capoccia’s. The food was delicious. Bill had the grilled chicken breast with tomatoes, rocket and cheese.

I ordered a risotto with what I think was a lobster or large shrimp.
It was yummy! Probably my best meal so far.

We walked across the street to our flat. Time for bed. It was a long but good day.
Tomorrow we are taking a boat ride to see the caves.
Ciao for now! ❤️
