Today was our last day in Monopoli. We had some breakfast and hung out at the pool for a couple of hours. We then proceed to our final stop on our trip, Matera. It was an 1 1/2 ride across Puglia into the region Basilica. Along the way we saw lots of fields. What a contrast it was to when we came into Matera. It was spectacular.
The whole town is built into the caves.
We checked in and wandered around to find a snack. It is really hard to find anything open from 2pm – 6pm. Everything closes down for siesta. Also, because it was Sunday the few things that are open, close for the day.
Billy and Giulia walked around and scoped out the town.
We went to dinner at Madame Giulia. The food was amazing.
For our entrees we ordered
We all agreed that my dish was the best.
We then went for an after dinner stroll.
